Stripped Screw Head

Got a stripped screw head? Here is a useful tip to remove a stripped screw. Place a rubber band over the screw head and then use a screwdriver to remove the screw. The rubber band allows you to remove those stubborn screws that maybe stripped out or otherwise tough to remove.

This maybe handy also if your screwdriver tips are rounded. The rubber helps to give your tips more grip on the screw head.

Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Conditioner

I was inspired by this DYI post about how to make homemade apple cider vinegar hair conditioner. Here is my recipe for homemade hair conditioner.

Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Condioner

Supplies Needed:
1 cup Apple Cider vinegar
2 cups water (filtered)
Empty container to hold conditioner mix
Lemon essential oil – 10 drops (optional)

Pour the apple cider vinegar and water into the empty container. I used a plastic quart wide-mouth jar. Because I am on well water with no chlorine and it’s filtered, I just used water from my tap. I added 10 drops of lemon essential oil to my hair conditioner mix. Stir well. That’s all — Very simple and fast to make.

The combination of apple cider vinegar and the lemon oil, adds a wonderful citrus fragrance to the hair conditioner. I just pour the mix onto my hair, making sure to keep my eyes closed and head tilted back as not to get the mix into my eyes as it does sting a bit if it gets into your eyes. Use about a 1/4 cup of mix depending on your hair. Work thorough your hair and ends; let it sit in your hair for a minute and rinse with warm water. Oh and don’t worry about the vinegar smell, it goes right away after rinsing. Continue Reading →

Finding the End of your Tape

I saw this wonderful idea on how to find the end of your tape on a roll. If you are like me, you have struggled at times to find the end of your masking or strapping tape. I found using the smaller bread bag closures works well for the narrow tapes as shown.

Use the larger bread bag closures for wider tapes such as strapping or duct tape. Just re-attach the plastic closure after you cut your tape.

I hope you will try this useful idea as it definitely makes it easier to find the end of your tape quickly.

Homemade Bee Traps

The bees have been really bad this year. I’ve been stung 4 times already. The stores are selling bee sprays and traps like crazy as people try to deal with all these bees. So I decided to make a homemade bee trap.

Materials needed:
Plastic jug – Recycled juice or milk jugs work fine
Piece of cord or heavy string to hang it up
Small amount of apple juice and vegetable oil
Scissors

Cut a upside down V as shown on the jug. Push the cut plastic in just a little.

Fill the jug with a few inches of apple juice or other liquid for attracting the bees. Add a tablespoon or so of oil such as vegetable or olive oil. Continue Reading →
