Salt has many good uses and is an excellent stain remover. I found out first hand just how effective it was when I had an injury to my finger. Unfortunately the wound bled and got blood on my white down comforter. I was upset about the stain and did some research to find a stain removal that I could try.
I read one home remedy for removing blood using salt that I thought I would try. The bloodstain had dried and I read that salt can lift the blood from fabrics so I thought it was worth a try. I dampened a small area of a washcloth and poured some salt on the wet spot of the cloth. I then gently rubbed the salt over the bloodstain. The salt seemed to absorb the blood from the comforter. I continued to rubbed across the stain and tried not to press down so the stain wouldn’t go deeper into the comforter. It was working and the salt granules pulled the blood from fabric. Once I got the stain out, I used a little cold water to dampen the area for a final clean up.
I am happy to report that the stain is completely gone. If you have a blood stain to remove, I would highly recommend that you try out this home remedy.

This is the inaugural post for My Useful Ideas. This is a blog where ideas are shared that are designed to save you money, help you solve a problem, answer a question, fix a problem, explain how to deal with a situation, and generally help you out. I am not an expert but will share with you ideas and solutions that I have found work and that are helpful in everyday use. Some of the ideas are very basic and which you may have read about in the past but I write to share my experiences and hopefully help out someone who may have not had to face the same challenge yet in their life.
